No one ever forgets their first bad haircut, and that goes for Emily Ratajkowski too. The model posted a “story time” video on TikTok, showing off what she described as “the worst haircut of my life.” At the beginning, the video had a filter, so we couldn’t see clearly at first. But soon, she switched to show her current hairstyle. It’s a combination of a jellyfish cut and a shag. She has short, choppy bangs all over her head, with longer hair underneath. “Oh, you thought I was going to be funny? I have bangs on the back of my head,” she said in the video.
She didn’t mention the name of the hairstylist. “The very nice man who did this to me, I think he was trying for a British shag. British shaggy style. But the thing is, it just doesn’t suit me, you know? It’s really shocking,” she said. The haircut does look like a shag, which is a messy, choppy layered cut. But it also resembles a jellyfish cut, a style that has been popular among celebrities recently.
Rogerio Cavalcante, the owner and hairstylist at The Second Floor Salon in NYC, said, “The jellyfish haircut is a bilevel haircut. There are short pieces or bangs around the face and on the top, and longer layers and length in the back. The shorter layers can be different in length, but they’re no longer than bob length.” However, a question remains: How does one end up with such a haircut if they didn’t ask for it?
I can really feel her pain. There’s nothing worse than a haircut that goes wrong. But it will take more than an iffy haircut to bring down Emily Ratajkowski. To keep things light – hearted, she jokingly posted another video re – creating the haircut scene from Fleabag. In this video, she curled her hair, and to be honest, it looks really great.
