The Princess of Wales continues to captivate with her iconic thick, chestnut hair, which has long been admired for its glossy and voluminous appearance. For years, she has kept her hair loose and flowing, maintaining the same stunning look. However, fans noticed a slight change in her hair color last month, particularly when she attended a rugby match and during a trip to Wales.
Her hair seemed noticeably lighter, with soft highlights that often develop after prolonged exposure to the sun. This change likely occurred after the Wales family visited the Caribbean island of Mustique during the February half term, as reported by the Mail on Sunday. Sunlight causes hair to lighten by breaking down the natural pigment in the strands, resulting in a sun-kissed appearance. Kate also appeared slightly tanned in Cardiff after the holiday, confirming the timing of her subtle hair transformation.
In addition to the color shift, Kate recently marked her 43rd birthday with a striking portrait taken by Matt Porteous. In the image, the Princess looked effortlessly chic in a classic outfit: skinny jeans, a white shirt, a black blazer, and a bold scarf. The photograph showcased Kate’s beauty and confidence, with her hair looking healthier than ever.
Hairstylist Tom Pike, who works with celebrities like Lily James, confirmed the subtle hair change, noting that Kate has embraced a modern take on the classic ‘Hollywood wave.’ Pike explained to HELLO! that the look involves using a smoothing cream or blow-dry spray to achieve a smooth finish, followed by wrapping the hair around a large barrel wand in thicker sections. Afterward, the hair is gently brushed out to create soft, voluminous waves.
Pike added that Kate’s version of the style differs slightly, as she parts her hair at the back and sweeps it forward, giving it a deeper wave. “It’s a ‘royal wave,'” he said, describing the result as “beautiful” and perfectly suited to her elegant, polished appearance.
