Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp shared a candid update on her ongoing battle with cancer, opening up about the hair loss she’s experienced due to treatments. In an Instagram post on April 6, she revealed the extent of her hair loss, captioning a selfie that showed her buzz cut: “The other side of my head is completely bald. Please refer your fave non-itchy or hot wigs.”
She continued with a lighthearted but honest comment, addressing her frustration with a recent wig purchase: “Dear half-wig/half-baseball caps from Amazon… let’s do better. I was so excited for you. You hurt my feelings.”
This search for the perfect wig follows news from just a few days earlier, when the 43-year-old confirmed that her cancer had progressed to stage 4. In a heartfelt video shared on April 2, she expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans. “I woke up to so many kind messages. I just want to say thank you so much,” Teddi said. “So many messages about how strong I am, and I gotta tell you, some days I feel really, really strong and some days I feel really, really sad and alone. And I think that’s a normal part of what any of us are going through, and that’s okay. Stage 4 cancer can be scary.”
Teddi has been open about her health struggles, particularly her diagnosis, which traces back to melanoma discovered over two years ago. Reflecting on the past, she shared her regret over not taking early warning signs more seriously. “I had this ginormous patch on the back of my shoulder that I always kind of had,” she said in a February interview. “I didn’t take it seriously… I spent much of my youth slathering on baby oil and iodine before laying in the sun.”
Throughout her journey, Teddi has remained transparent with her followers. Despite the challenges, she maintains a hopeful outlook, even in the face of pessimistic comments from some online. “These kind of comments make me really sad,” she shared on Instagram Stories. “I know people are trying to help but it’s heartbreaking for me to read. Of course, I know the chances, but I truly believe with my whole heart I will beat this and watch my kids graduate.”
Teddi continues to inspire her fans with her resilience, focusing on her recovery and staying hopeful for the future.
