Demi Moore is known for her long, wavy brunette hair, which has become a signature part of her image. Throughout a busy year promoting The Substance—and receiving long-overdue awards—she consistently wore her waist-length hair in soft curls, usually styled down.
Now, Moore appears to be trying something new. She revealed a much shorter haircut on Instagram: a flippy lob that falls just below her shoulders.
In the photo, Moore wears a brown ribbed cardigan and jeans. She poses with her tiny dog Pilaf, who is often seen by her side. She also shared a video where she walks down a long hallway with Pilaf, giving fans a better look at the updated hairstyle.

There may be good news for fans of Moore’s long locks: the shorter cut is likely a wig. In the caption, Moore wrote, “@landmanpplus is officially back in production for season two!” This suggests the look is part of her role in the Paramount+ series Landman. In season one, she played Cami Miller, the wife of Jon Hamm’s character Monty, and wore a similarly shorter, curled hairstyle.
This wouldn’t be the first time Moore has changed her hair for a role. In 1997, she famously shaved her head for the lead in G.I. Jane. In a 2022 interview with People, she said, “I’ve done everything to my hair. I’ve shaved it. I’ve dyed it. I’ve had a bob. When I’m not working, I try to do as little to it as possible. It’s stressful even having someone touch it. If I don’t have anywhere to go, I don’t put heat on it—I just try to let it do its own thing. And I don’t wash it too often.”
Now, Moore says she’s less willing to make drastic changes for roles. “I think now that I’m older, I also know, I don’t have anything to prove. So if they really need my hair different, they can give me a wig,” she said.
Whether it’s her natural hair or a wig, the new look is another sign that Moore is back on set—and fans can expect to see her on screen again soon.
