JAKARTA – Famous singer Inul Daratista has opened up about her ever-changing appearances, including her habit of wearing hoods. She explained that adapting her look is part of the demands of being an artist.
“It’s okay to wear a hood,” Inul said in South Jakarta on Tuesday, April 15. “As an artist, it’s normal to change appearances. I was once advised by my mentor, Titiek Puspa, who said, ‘If you don’t dress up, you’re not beautiful. You look like a sweeper. So, you must dress beautifully.'”
Inul shared that one reason she often wears hoods is because her hair is currently not in its best condition. She noted that styling methods like straightening can damage her hair.
“My hair isn’t in great shape. I need to take care of it. If I straighten it, it will definitely get damaged, so I prefer to just wear a hood,” she explained.
Beyond accessories, Inul has an extensive collection of goods, some of which she has given away to others. She admitted that she doesn’t keep track of the number of items she owns.
“My collection is quite large, but I don’t really count it. Recently, I gave a box of items to my friend in Malaysia,” Inul shared. “I sometimes give away things that are too expensive to throw away. I prefer to give them to people.”
Regarding the value of her collection, Inul denied rumors that some of her items are worth hundreds of millions of rupiah. However, she did acknowledge that the items she owns are not cheap.
“No, the prices aren’t in the hundreds of millions. The cheapest ones are around 3 to 5 million rupiah, depending on the item,” she clarified.
