As spring approaches, there’s nothing quite like a fresh haircut to elevate your confidence. With warmer weather here to stay, it’s the perfect opportunity to schedule that long-awaited hair appointment. This season, we’re witnessing a shift away from the glossy brunette hues and classic bobs that dominated winter, paving the way for long layers, power pixies, and relaxed bangs.

Anthony Nader, Creative Director at Raw Anthony Nader hair salon in Surry Hills, Sydney, shared his insights with Women’s Health on the hairstyles set to make waves this spring.

“Spring is all about shedding the old and embracing the new—what better way to do this than with a fabulous haircut? These trending styles will help you shake off the winter blues and step confidently into sunnier days,” he notes.

Spring 2024 Hair Trends

1. 90s Long Layers

Anthony highlights the resurgence of long, voluminous layers paired with floaty curtain bangs, a beloved look from the early to mid-’90s.

“A bouncy blowout reminiscent of Cindy Crawford, Julia Roberts, and Jennifer Lopez serves as ideal inspiration. This style can be easily pulled up for a carefree look or worn down for maximum volume,” he explains.

He adds, “This haircut provides versatility with endless styling options. The layers not only add volume to fine hair but also balance the weight and enhance movement in thicker strands.”

2. The VB Long Bob

Last month, style icon Victoria Beckham debuted a fresh lob (long bob) that is poised to become a key hairstyle this spring.

“Sporting a center part and a blunt finish, her new cut grazes her shoulders and features a tousled texture through the mid-lengths and ends. Although Victoria doesn’t often change her look, this effortless, youthful style is a refreshing change for the designer and busy mother of four,” Anthony observes.

He notes, “Shortening her length gives the appearance of thicker strands, making it an ideal choice for those with finer hair. I fully endorse going shorter with a blunt cut.”

3. Relaxed Bangs

Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for her retro-inspired curtain bangs, is leading the charge for this trend.

“Daisy’s bangs blend beautifully into her lived-in waves, creating an effortlessly classic look that maintains volume. Cut above the cheekbones, they add movement to her hair while framing her face,” Anthony explains.

For those trying bangs for the first time, he suggests opting for a longer shape. “I have a soft spot for bangs that lightly touch the eyelashes and gracefully graze the cheekbones!”

4. The Carnaby Street Bowl Cut

This season’s take on the bowl cut has evolved dramatically from its strict 1960s origins.

“I’m reintroducing bowl cuts for spring 2024, allowing clients’ natural texture to shine. This modern interpretation feels and looks beautifully free and tousled,” Anthony says.

“Unlike its rigid predecessor, today’s bowl cut is softer and can be styled forward, to the sides, or tucked behind the ears, offering a more relaxed feel.”

5. The Power Pixie

For Anthony, the pixie cut represents individuality and empowerment. With the weight of hair often tied to a woman’s self-worth, he notes that letting go can be liberating—both physically and mentally.

“The pixie cut is the ultimate statement hairstyle,” he affirms, citing Zoe Kravitz as a major inspiration.

“She embodies strength, femininity, and power. This short haircut can still look incredibly delicate; the key is to keep the front soft and razored rather than blunt. Plus, it grows out beautifully,” he adds.

With these fresh styles in mind, spring 2024 is sure to be a season of transformation and confidence. Whether you’re leaning toward long layers, a chic lob, or a daring pixie, now is the time to embrace change and express yourself through your hair.
