Ansel Elgort made a rare public appearance on Monday at the Broadway premiere of Glengarry Glen Ross. The 31-year-old actor turned heads with his shoulder-length brown hair, marking another step in his return to the spotlight.
Elgort, known for his roles in Divergent and West Side Story, wore a dark blue suit, a matching tie, and a white button-up shirt. In a nod to his fashion photographer father, Arthur Elgort, the actor carried a camera with a long brown leather strap as he posed on the red carpet.
The actor first debuted his long hairstyle in April 2024 during an event for season two of Tokyo Vice at Avalon Hollywood. For that appearance, he styled his hair in natural waves, parted down the middle, much like he did at Monday’s event. At the Hollywood gathering, Elgort wore a double-breasted pin-striped suit with a white button-down shirt, again holding his camera in photos.
Elgort also made an appearance weeks later at the premiere of his Calligraphy and Photography Exhibition at the Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo. There, he showcased his artwork, sporting brown painter boots, black baggy pants, and a collared jacket with gold buttons.
The actor has largely stayed out of the public eye since 2020, when he faced accusations of sexual assault from a woman who claimed the incident took place in 2014 when she was 17 and Elgort was 20. Elgort addressed the allegations in a since-deleted Instagram post, confirming an encounter but stating that the relationship was “legal and entirely consensual.”
“I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings, but her description of events is simply not what happened,” Elgort wrote at the time. “I have never and would never assault anyone.”
Elgort’s last public appearance before this week was in December 2024 at Tokyo Comic Con. He also honored Rita Moreno at an event in May 2024.
