JoJo Siwa surprised fans with a dramatic new hairstyle at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on March 27. The 21-year-old singer and dancer stepped away from her signature long blonde hair and fishtail ponytail, debuting a bold mohawk that turned heads on the red carpet.
One side of JoJo’s shaved head was dyed in the colors of the Pride flag, while the other side featured the colors of the transgender flag. Adding her signature sparkle, JoJo highlighted both sides with glitter patches. Despite the edgy change, the top of her hair remained dark blonde, maintaining a hint of her original style.
Before walking the red carpet, JoJo teased her new look on Instagram. She shared a close-up of her glittery makeup and hinted at the big reveal with the caption, “Stay tuned for today’s look at @glaad awards.”
JoJo also made a statement with her outfit, wearing bedazzled shorts and a jacket that read, “Trans rights are human rights.” She was accompanied by her girlfriend, Kath Ebbs, who joined her at the event, which was sponsored by Hornitos Tequila.
In a recent interview with E! News, JoJo shared how her relationship with Kath has helped her embrace her true self. “I almost didn’t know this version of myself existed,” JoJo said. “I didn’t know it was possible to love someone so much while also loving my career, family, and friends. But you still have this safe person.”
She added, “They’ve made me a more beautiful person because they are the most beautiful.”
