When you think of Carey Mulligan, her bob haircut comes to mind. In fact, it’s not just any bob, but a perfect one. She has worn it in various styles. Sometimes it’s tousled, sometimes choppy. It can be bumped under, flicked out, or poker straight. And it always ends around the middle of her jaw.
Last year at the Governors Awards, her bob was smooth and icy – blonde. It had a bit of volume and a subtle tuck at the ends. At the 2024 SAG Awards, her razor – sharp bob was absolutely perfect, with not a single hair out of place. Clearly, Carey Mulligan knows a lot about the bob haircut.
So, her recent haircut is really surprising. Carey now has a crop! She was seen arriving for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Her hair was much shorter and flipped to the side. There were small twists of hair at the front and in the middle of her head. This new look is the work of her longtime hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett. Scarlett also works with other famous stars like Lily – Rose Depp, Margot Robbie, Hailey Bieber, and Saoirse Ronan. Scarlett trimmed Mulligan’s hair so that it just reached the bottom of her earlobe and grazed the top of the back of her neck. Also, because of the wet – look they created, her hair color looks darker. There are golden flecks and darker, acorn – like tones mixed in.
This isn’t the first time Mulligan has gone for a short haircut or tried twists and braids. In 2012, she followed the boho – obsessed trend with a piecey bob that had a fish – plaited front. Before that, she had a choppy blonde pixie cut. Turns out, she needed it after her hair got severely damaged by bleach.
Mulligan’s new cut is a fresh version of the micro – bob trend that has been around for a few years. Bob queen Gigi Hadid also loves the mini – cut and changes her bob with flips, razors, and different colors as she likes. Mulligan’s new hair is longer than a pixie cut but sits closer to her face than a French bob. It has a sleek look that’s usually hard to achieve without going either razor – sharp or very short. Right now, this new haircut doesn’t have a name. How about we call it the Carey Crop?
