Ariana Grande is making a bold change after wrapping up her role in Wicked—and it seems she’s ready to experiment with her hair in new ways. Earlier this month, Grande said goodbye to her signature honey blonde locks, swapping them for a darker auburn shade, which she first revealed in her Brighter Days Ahead short film. While she has made small color changes over the past few years, including a look inspired by Audrey Hepburn, this was her first major hair transformation in years. But just a week later, she surprised everyone again with an even bolder move—a bright purple ombré.
The new hairstyle is part of Grande’s campaign with the jewelry brand Swarovski. In the campaign images, she sports the blonde-to-purple ombré in a sleek high ponytail and wears colorful, ’60s pop art-inspired jewelry from Swarovski.
According to the press release, the campaign highlights the connection between style and self-expression. It describes Grande’s new look as inspired by Swarovski’s “fantasy world of color and light,” symbolizing creativity, craftsmanship, and joyful self-expression. The purple hair transformation fits perfectly with the brand’s new lilac jewelry collection. The lilac stones, set in gold-tone hardware, are described as “a love letter to crystal” in timeless designs. “Combined with Ariana’s pure star power, it forms a high fashion fantasy,” the release continues.
“I’m so excited that my creative journey continues with Swarovski,” Grande said in a statement. “I love the metamorphosis storyline of this new Spring-Summer 2025 campaign. Styled in a palette of vibrant colors and radiant crystal jewelry, this campaign felt truly uplifting and joyful.”
Last year, Grande shared with Vogue that she chose to dye her hair blonde for her Oscar-nominated role as Glinda in Wicked, even though she wore wigs in the film. “Even though I was wearing wigs, I needed to be blonde, too,” she explained.
With Wicked part two set to release later this year, it’s clear that Grande’s time as Glinda is nearing its end. And, it seems, her blonde hair may be leaving with it.
