Carey Mulligan, known for her sleek and classic blunt bob, has traded in her signature style for a daring new look. The British actress, who has long championed the chic jaw-length bob, surprised fans when she debuted a shorter, edgier micro-bob during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 27.
Mulligan’s new style, created by hairstylist Bryce Scarlett, featured a wet look with her ultra-short hair tucked behind her ears and styled with a deep side part. To add texture and depth, a few twisted sections framed her face, giving her a more modern and bold appearance. She paired the fresh cut with a one-shoulder black Bottega Veneta top and black trousers, completing the ensemble with minimalist gold hoop earrings. As she stepped outside, she threw on a black blazer with ruffled details to finish off the chic look.
During the talk show appearance, Mulligan also opened up about her personal life, particularly her relationship with husband Marcus Mumford of the band Mumford & Sons. She revealed that while her husband has seen “some” of her films, he’s more often the one she listens to before the release of his music. “I get demoitis where I hear the demo and I become obsessed with the demo, and then he starts changing things, and I’m not happy,” Mulligan shared. “He’s a little bit more cautious now about playing music.”
The couple, who share three children—Evelyn, 8, Wilfred, 5, and a third child born in 2023, whose name has not been disclosed—are known for keeping their family life private.
