The last time the Houston Rockets hosted a playoff game at Toyota Center, they were eliminated from the 2019 playoffs by the Golden State Warriors. Gerald Green, who played for the Rockets at the time, was part of that game. Six years later, Dillon Brooks brought a piece of Green’s signature style with him as the Rockets returned to postseason action.
In Game 1 on Sunday night, Brooks faced off against the Warriors, sporting the Rockets’ logo braided into the back of his hair. This hairstyle isn’t new for Brooks, who debuted the look at the start of the 2023-24 season when he first joined the Rockets. Green, known for his deep connection to Houston, often wore a similar style. Growing up in the city, Green was known for his strong ties to the community, even tattooing the I-45 sign on his left shoulder and the Houston skyline on his left forearm. During the 2018 playoffs, after another tough loss to the Warriors, Green added the Houston Oilers’ oil derrick logo to his braided hair as a tribute to the city.
Green, who spent 12 years in the NBA, now works as an analyst for the Rockets on the Space City Home Network.
