Addison Rae embraced a bold new look for the release of her latest music video, going full hot pink with a little help from Hayley Williams’s haircare brand. The TikTok star-turned-pop artist debuted the video for her new single, “Headphones On,” on Friday, April 18. The dreamy track complements a fantasy-inspired storyline, where Rae, as a blonde, imagines herself riding a horse in slow motion. In this fantasy sequence, she sports bright, hot pink hair—and it’s not a wig.
The vibrant hair color was achieved with products from Good Dye Young, the haircare company co-founded by Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams and her longtime hairstylist Brian O’Connor. Good Dye Young shared photos of Rae on its official Instagram, showcasing her new pink hair. Hairstylist Lucas Wilson used the brand’s semi-permanent dye “Ex-Girl” to achieve the striking color. The shade is described as a “true, hot-pink with bright warm undertones,” and it lasts for 16 to 24 washes. The Instagram caption read, “HEADPHONES ON !! [Lucas Wilson] used GDY EX-GIRL to plug into PINK hair on [Addison Rae] for her new music video. Pink pop hair is here, volume’s all the way up.”
Good Dye Young has gained a reputation for its bold hair colors, with Williams herself known for her signature orange hair from her Misery Business days. Now, Rae is adding her own twist to vibrant hair, embracing the hot pink trend. Williams also shared Rae’s pink hair photos on her Instagram Story, praising the look: “Have loved every single thus far. So cool [Good Dye Young] got to play a tiny part in this one. [Addison Rae] ex-girl was made for you.”
Rae’s single release follows her surprise performance at Coachella during Arca’s set, where she performed “Aquamarine” while wearing a sheer, flowy gown with hot pink underwear.
