Cornwall Student to Donate Hair and Fundraise for Children’s Cancer Charity

by lily

On May 3, Maisie Hammond, a student from Cornwall, will donate at least 12 inches (30 cm) of her hair to The Little Princess Trust. This charity provides real-hair wigs to children and young people facing hair loss, offering them free of charge. The charity also funds childhood cancer research in the UK.

Maisie, who is eager to contribute to the cause, will combine her first salon haircut with a fundraiser. Her goal is to raise £500 for the Trust, in addition to donating her hair. This marks a special milestone for Maisie, as her hair has only ever been trimmed by her mother, Gemma. “She’s never had her hair cut properly before,” Gemma shared with The Packet. “I’ve trimmed the ends off for her, but this will be her first time at a proper salon.”

Maisie, a student at Parc Eglos Primary School, is reportedly thrilled about both the haircut and the opportunity to help others. “Maisie jumped with excitement when I told her we had raised £100. She’s so excited for the haircut and the fundraising,” Gemma added. Maisie’s understanding of the cause has also grown. “She understands why it’s important and has learned more about giving to others,” Gemma explained.

The Little Princess Trust has now helped more than 18,000 children and young people by providing free wigs to those who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments or other medical conditions. Maisie’s donation will undoubtedly make a difference to many children in need.
