Lana Del Rey surprised fans with a striking transformation during her April 25 performance at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio, California. The singer not only debuted two new singles, “Henry, Come On” and “Husband of Mine,” but also revealed a dramatic new look.
For the festival, Del Rey traded her signature honey blonde hair for a rich brunette shade. It marked one of her most dramatic hair changes in years. The new color, called Brown Sugar Brunette, was crafted by Tracey Cunningham, colorist and U.S. Creative Director of Color & Technique at Schwarzkopf Professional. Created with IGORA Vibrance, the look features a cool, refined brunette base with lighter ends to add natural warmth and softness.
Del Rey also introduced a new hairstyle for the performance. Stylist Anna Cofone created soft retro curls, which she described as “Desert Waves.” At one point during the show, Del Rey’s hair was adorned with delicate black bows accented with pearls.
Her makeup was done by Pamela Cochrane using Lisa Eldridge products. For her outfits, stylist Molly Dickson chose a custom cream lace dress by Valentino and a custom red dress by Sugar Ferrini.
Over the years, Del Rey’s relationship with her hair has evolved. Although she embraced retro curls for this performance, she once favored simpler styles. In a 2019 interview with Vanity Fair, Del Rey reflected on her past beauty routines.
“I spent years putting my hair into wet sets, so I’ve sat under those giant hoods myself,” she said. “I’m sure I loved them at one point, but I just hate them now! I would do my hair in rollers, dry them into curls, and brush them out into a big Texas triangle. I would do that every few days for shows or appearances. Now, I just put it into braids and hope for the best.”
Fans can also look forward to more from Del Rey soon. Her tenth album, The Right Person Will Stay, is set to be released on May 21.
