Hairstylist Cyndia Harvey Launches Scalp-Focused Hair Care Line, T.H.O.M

Renowned hairstylist Cyndia Harvey, celebrated for her advocacy for underrepresented individuals in the fashion industry, has unveiled a new scalp-focused hair care line named T.H.O.M. Harvey, who boasts an impressive client roster including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Schiaparelli, and Simone Rocha, aims to revolutionize hair care for textured hair.

T.H.O.M: A New Chapter in Hair Care

Cyndia Harvey, the daughter of a hairstylist in the U.K., has drawn from her rich cultural heritage and professional journey to create T.H.O.M. In an interview with Vogue, she expressed her motivation: “I felt I had to work so hard for everything but was feeling very overlooked. This is not a unique story to myself; it’s a universal truth for many Black and brown people—and for many women: You feel you are doing twice the amount as your counterparts.”

This sentiment also inspired her documentary, This Hair of Mine, directed by Akinola Davies Jr. The film features British women from the African diaspora sharing their stories of cultural heritage, showcasing hairstyles designed by Harvey. The documentary was well-received, though some feared it might pigeonhole her as a “black stylist.” However, Harvey embraced this identity, which propelled her to create T.H.O.M, a line dedicated to textured hair.

Innovative and Inclusive Hair Care

T.H.O.M is packed with peptides, enzymes, and hydration to promote hair growth and redefine black hair care as a positive experience. Harvey highlighted the challenges Black women face in finding suitable hair products, stating, “One reason Black women are spending that much is because they are constantly searching for the right products. That’s our main intention, we want you to stop that search.”

The line’s launch addresses a significant gap in the market. Quality hair care products for Black individuals are often scarce and expensive, costing upwards of $12. Harvey’s mission is to make effective, affordable hair care accessible to everyone.

A Cultural and Community Uplift

Hair care and hairstyles are integral to Black culture and personal expression. Harvey’s initiative not only provides high-quality products but also uplifts the community by celebrating and catering to its unique needs. T.H.O.M’s first product, a scalp serum, has already hit the market, promising to be a game-changer in hair care.
