Local young man Nate Smith, aged 16, has recently undergone a dramatic transformation by shaving off his long hair for the first time in his life, and the results are already showing. His hair is growing back quickly and has even taken on a new color.
You might recall the story from early June about Nate’s plan to shave his very long locks to raise money for charity. True to his word, Nate went through with it and has since been adjusting to his new, much shorter hairstyle.
Nate’s charitable endeavor has been a success, raising $2206 so far, with a few small donations still pending. On his charity page, Nate shared his motivation and gratitude:
“My name is Nate, I am 16 years old and I am shaving my head for the first time in my life. I have always had very long hair and I will be giving a massive 75cm of hair in my donation.
“I am shaving my hair and raising funds to help brighten the lives of children with a cancer diagnosis.
“I am shaving my hair to fundraise to help sick kids throughout Australia.
“Not only will 75cm of my hair be used to make a wig, but your donations will also help me raise the $2750 needed to fund the cost of a wig to be made for a child experiencing hair loss from cancer treatments, to feel more confident. You can also do this by sharing this page with your family and friends. Together, we can all make a difference.”
For the first time in 16 years, Nate has short hair, and he is grateful for all the support he has received:
“Thank you to everyone that donated and anyone that donates in the future,” Nate said this week.
Nate’s selfless act not only supports a great cause but also highlights the impact that one individual’s efforts can have in making a difference in the lives of others.
