Millie Bobby Brown is not letting online critics get the best of her. After facing backlash for her new hairstyle, the “Stranger Things” star took to social media to deliver a firm rebuttal.
On Thursday, Brown shared a screenshot of a British Vogue article titled: “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks,” with a simple message of gratitude, thanking the outlet and tagging them on her Instagram Stories.
The 21-year-old actress’ post came in response to online criticism that followed her appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of her new Netflix movie, The Electric State. Brown attended the event alongside her husband, Jake Bongiovi, wearing a stunning metallic gown. However, it was her blonde updo that drew the most attention—and not all of it was positive.
The hairstyle, which featured a throwback style reminiscent of older Hollywood icons, prompted comparisons to famous blondes like Pamela Anderson, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Ivana Trump. Some commentators even claimed the look made Brown appear much older than her age, with one person writing on social media, “Why does she insist on making herself look 20 years older than she is?” Another comment on X (formerly Twitter) added, “She’s younger than her husband but she looks old enough to be his mother.”
Despite the negative feedback, Brown has continued to stand her ground. Earlier this year, she clapped back at similar criticisms in January, writing on Instagram Stories, “Women grow!! Not sorry about it,” in response to a mirror selfie that some fans claimed made her look older than her “Stranger Things” character, Eleven.
At the European premiere of The Electric State on Thursday, Brown kept her hair down, but it’s clear she’s no stranger to confronting online vitriol and choosing to stay true to herself. As her career continues to evolve, Brown’s confidence in her appearance remains unshaken by the opinions of others.
