Miley Cyrus stunned fans with a striking hairstyle change between her appearance at the Academy Awards and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
The 32-year-old singer graced the Oscars red carpet on Sunday in a custom black glitter gown by Alexander McQueen. Featuring a sheer skirt and a halter neckline, the ensemble was complemented by black lace gloves and silver diamond earrings. Cyrus also debuted a bold new look with bleached eyebrows, accentuating her brown hair streaked with blonde highlights, which was styled in voluminous waves and a deep side part.
Cyrus took the stage alongside actor Miles Teller to present the award for Best Sound before heading to the highly anticipated Vanity Fair after-party. However, her transformation at the event left fans in awe. She arrived sporting sleek, straightened hair tied up in a high ponytail, with newly revealed micro bangs that drastically altered her red carpet appearance.
For the after-party, Cyrus opted for a custom black strapless gown by Maison Margiela, accessorized with a matching black handbag, silver hoop earrings, and a silver ring. She was seen posing alongside her boyfriend, musician Maxx Morando, who wore a classic black suit paired with a white shirt and sneakers.
Celebrity hairstylist Bob Recine later confirmed to People that he had trimmed Cyrus’ bangs right before she stepped out for the Vanity Fair party. He also revealed that her Oscars look was inspired by a legendary animated character.
“For tonight’s look, I drew inspiration from Jessica Rabbit to create Miley’s voluminous marcel waves,” Recine shared. “I loved how she approached the Oscars this year—keeping it youthful and fun while maintaining that timeless Hollywood glamour.”
He added that he and Cyrus collaborate closely on her styling, from hair to footwear choices. “She really trusts me, and that allows us to enhance her natural beauty while incorporating a sexy, glamorous twist.”
The Vanity Fair Oscar Party showcased an array of bold fashion choices from Hollywood’s elite. Olivia Wilde turned heads in a sheer gown with a plunging neckline, while Julia Fox made a statement in a transparent mesh dress adorned with faux hair, designed by Turkish designer Dilara Findikoglu. Meanwhile, Catherine O’Hara opted for a vibrant long-sleeve dress in shades of orange, yellow, and purple, paired with a pale pink satin clutch.
This year’s Academy Awards saw one of the closest races in recent history, with Sean Baker’s Anora, Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, and the Vatican drama Conclave emerging as top contenders. Ultimately, Anora dominated the evening, securing five awards, including Best Picture. The film’s lead actress took home the Best Actress trophy, while Adrien Brody earned his second Oscar for his role in The Brutalist.
