At Chloé’s autumn/winter ‘25/’26 show, the runway was graced with hair that embodied the brand’s signature cool-girl aesthetic, and it all came together thanks to a clever styling hack using Dyson’s latest Supersonic r hair dryer.
For those familiar with Dyson’s groundbreaking Supersonic hair dryer, which first revolutionized the market in 2016, the backstage atmosphere at the Chloé show will have felt familiar. The signature hum of the dryer echoed as hairstylists, led by Gary Gill, worked to create effortlessly chic looks for the models.
The key to achieving the laid-back yet polished styles – from loose waves to understated updos – was the Dyson Supersonic r. Hairstylists started by applying a hydrating mist to the hair, followed by a quick dry using the dryer’s targeted air attachment. A spritz of texturizing sea salt spray added that perfect, lived-in texture. For natural curls and shine, stylists switched to the Supersonic r’s diffuser attachment to smooth frizz and enhance the models’ natural hair movement.
“We’re very much feeding into the Chloé girl aesthetic,” said Gill, referencing creative director Chemena Kamali’s vision for the collection, which was centered on freedom, evolution, and femininity. “The secret to this look is what you don’t do,” Gill explained backstage. Rather than styling hair aggressively, he focused on enhancing each model’s natural texture with minimal adjustment.
Unlike previous seasons, where heavy styling and artificial volume were key, this season’s looks embraced healthy, naturally flowing hair. “We see a lot of stylists really putting the models’ hair through a lot of stress and damage, but with the Supersonic r, there’s no heat damage, and we’re preserving hair health,” said Demetri Deacon-Jones, Dyson’s beauty experience training manager. “The models go from one show to the next without compromising their hair health.”
Though the Supersonic r was initially a professional-only tool, it has now made its way into the hands of everyday consumers. Launched last year exclusively for professionals, Dyson quickly realized that the benefits of the hair dryer, such as its quick drying time and ergonomic design, could be shared with a wider audience. Now available to the public, the Supersonic r is not only smaller and 20% lighter than previous Dyson models, but it also features smart sensors that adjust airflow and temperature based on its proximity to the scalp. As Gill succinctly put it, “It’s lightweight, it’s quiet, the air’s gentle, the heat’s gentle.”
This innovative tool is now accessible to everyone, making it easier than ever to achieve salon-quality, healthy-looking hair at home.
