Mark Eydelshteyn Elevates the Partyboy Mullet with a Sleek, Hollywood Twist

by lily

Mark Eydelshteyn’s hair in Anora was the epitome of a carefree stoner-partyboy aesthetic—fluffed out, wild, and ready for a night on the town. But at the Balenciaga autumn/winter 2025 show in Paris, the actor showcased a more refined take on the style, proving that even a mullet can exude sophistication.

The cut, shorter and closer to the head than his Anora look, still adheres to the mullet’s defining principles—shorter on the sides, longer on the top and back—but with a softer, more polished execution. Gone are the textured medium-length layers that fueled the “Russian Timothée Chalamet” comparisons. Instead, Eydelshteyn has opted for a swept-back silhouette, allowing for a sleek, tailored appearance. By directing the hair back around the ears rather than using a razor to create a sharp contrast, the result is a more subtle version of the classic mullet.

Hollywood has seen a resurgence of mullets in recent years, from Harris Dickinson’s “corporate-friendly baby mullet” to Paul Mescal’s signature take on the trend. Eydelshteyn’s version, however, leans into natural movement and texture, with layers enhancing volume and fluidity.

The Expert Take

“This is a beautiful example of a soft mullet wavy cut,” says Charlie Illi, a hairstylist at Brooks and Brooks in Covent Garden. “To achieve this look, you’ll need at least 5 cm of hair length. If you’re transitioning from a shorter style, give it about a month to grow out before heading to your barber.”

While traditional mullets embrace the “business in the front, party in the back” ethos, Eydelshteyn’s iteration is noticeably neater—think business casual rather than all-out party mode. “Mark has a curly-wavy hair texture, which adds amazing volume to the look. The sides are cut slim and soft, with the back slightly elongated for a subtle mullet effect. The top is left marginally longer to create gentle curves,” Illi explains.

How to Style It

Once you’ve got the cut, styling is key. Eydelshteyn’s natural curls play a big role in the look, so enhancing texture is essential.

“I’d recommend using a soft curl mousse and diffusing it slightly before running your hands through the hair to loosen it up,” advises Illi. “Finish with a soft wax to smooth the sides and define texture.” A diffuser distributes heat evenly, helping curls maintain their shape without excessive frizz.

With his breakout role in Anora, Eydelshteyn is embracing his Hollywood moment—right down to his effortlessly cool new trim. If you’re in search of a stylish medium-length cut with movie-star appeal, the soft mullet is a solid choice.
